1947 - 2003
Angela Topfer passed away June 3, 2003, after a three-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was a co-founder of the Topfer Family Foundation and a driving philanthropic force in the Central Texas region.
Mrs. Topfer served as vice president and secretary of the Board of Directors for the Topfer Family Foundation, and directed many of the foundation's most visible gifts. She believed in the mission of empowering self-sufficiency in others, and invested her own time and expertise with organizations that shared her vision. She supported and served as an advisor to numerous organizations in Central Texas including: the Seton Healthcare Network, United Way, Shoes for Austin, Caritas and the Dell Jewish Community Center.
Born and raised in England, Mrs. Topfer earned a business degree in Cambridge, England, and moved to Chicago in 1979 to pursue a career at Motorola. She moved to Austin in 1994 when her husband, Mort Topfer, took the position of vice chairman at Dell Inc. In the nine years Mrs. Topfer lived in Central Texas, she established a legacy and memory that will not soon be forgotten.
